Abandoned 6×8 Oil painting by Tom Brown
As soon as Tom Brown posted this painting on his blog, I grabbed it. It’s a 1929 gas station just outside Santa Barbara, California that was active till the early 1960’s. It was also the site where a Japanese submarine surfaced and shelled a nearby oil field in 1942. In 1981, The Postman Always Rings Twice was Filmed there. Historic notes aside, I love the building for it’s petite profile and architectural details, and I lived in SB for awhile in the early 1980’s so it’s full of memories for me.
Belinda,
You’re work is versatile and you are very generous to share all these links. I Love Tom’s paintings. What a collection you have.
Love those two nestled together like that: beautiful! The gas station painting is wonderful, too!
