In the last post, I started a new blog series called Link Love; I’m sharing artists (both painters & printmakers) I enjoy on youtube. There is enormous inspiration in hearing an artists’ voice, watching them create, and seeing their choice of supplies and studio layout.  The artist might be 3000 miles away, but through their channel, you can visit any time you need a tip, some camaraderie or a little inspirational boost. This week’s Link Love is British watercolor painter Anna Mason. Her youtube channel features articulate watercolor tutorials using glazing, and her work is lovely.  In this tutorial, she painted a beach shell in warm earth tones, step-by-step. Have a look, and let me know what you think in the comments. If you like her work, don’t be afraid to subscribe to her channel, and share it with a friend.

Art Quote

Rest assured that if you work every day at your art, using the materials nearest at hand, you will gradually discover such beauty in them that they will fill you with happiness. And if you paint these things with the deep understanding that comes of constant association, you will be an artist.

  1. I couldn’t have said it better than Kathleen. I’ve been stalking your wonderful blog for a while and it’s about time I commented on what a generous, wonderful artist I think you are. Thanks for taking the time to make this awesome blog for all to enjoy!

    1. Hi Chris, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment – I always enjoy feedback, and seeing comments is a great way to click your link and discover what you’re doing too! Happy making! 🙂

  2. Love your painting, the inspirational quote and the link. I was just sitting down to do an apple study, and Anna had a tutorial that was very helpful. I also enjoyed her shell video, and subscribed.

Thanks for your incredible generosity. You are a real inspiration and role model for me!

    1. Hi Kathleen! I’m so glad you liked Anna’s channel! Her style in both painting and teaching is so pleasant! I hope your apple came out beautiful, and thanks for the kind words. 🙂
