Santa Monica House 4.75 x 4.5 Monotype mixed media (available in my Etsy shop)

There’s a wonderful little video (see below) about the details in creating Marimekko fabrics, and it follows the process from the concept drawing, to the fabric being printed in the factory, and ends with fabrics being used in the home.  I especially love that it starts with an artist doodling ink and dabbling watercolors in a sunny studio. Isn’t it a wonder, the potential we all have at our fingertips!?

I’ve just uploaded a new trace monotype video on my youtube channel, and I’ll write more about that in the next post, but feel free to check it out of you’re looking for a encouragement to try a printmaking method that doesn’t involve a press, or carving or drawing skills. 🙂

Art Quote
Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. Put your whole soul into it. Stamp it with your own personality. Be active, be energetic, be enthusiastic and faithful, and you will accomplish your object. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
