The Thousand Oaks Artwalk was fantastic. My studio is cluttered with post-art-festival gear, framed art, packaging and a long list of To-Do’s. I’ll get everything sorted and put away by early next week, but in the meantime, I tip my hat to the posse of volunteers who put these art events together.

Art Festival coordination is a monumental task, and the organization of several hundred [emotive] artists, while marketing an event against a season filled with graduations and proms, and preparing for weather in the 90’s on blacktop pavement is sort of a thankless job.
The festival was lightly attended, but I had great sales, non-stop visits from good friends and I won a ribbon, so, no complaints! 🙂 Next up: some new art tutorial videos, and a large still life commission. What are your plans in the studio for June?

I wore a grin all say Sunday after receiving a
third place ribbon in the watercolor category from the jury.

Art Quote
Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.
